I think selling is a great idea!  I should have shopped more rummage sales for DD but instead sent my Mom out to do it:)  However, I'd make sure to go through all clothes really good and anything with stains/worn out I would just donate.  As far as prices go..I've paid $10 on name brand outfits that look like they have never been worn.  Otherwise lots of baby clothes sell anywhere from $1-5 depending on what it is.  Remember, you want to get rid of it and high priced, used stuff won't go too fast!  As far as boucy seats, baby swings, cribs, etc.....those things are usually pretty expensive new and as long as they are in great condition yet, I'd say $10-15 if you pd around $30-40 originally.  It's really your own call:)  Keep in mind the more you get rid of the less you have to pack back up!  I would recommend running sale Fri, Sat, Sun and on the last day(Sunday) mark everything down 1/2 price!  GET RID OF IT!

I love having rummage sales!  We've made over $500 every year we've done one.  I always put $1 on each item of clothing no matter if it was namebrand or from Walmart.  If I had an outfit I'd put a little bit more on it and sometimes I had some really nice dresses of my daughters that I sold for more.  It all depends on how much stuff you want gone.  As for the bigger items, think about what you would pay for it if you were at a rummage sale.

If you don't want to do a rummage sale, Craigs List is great for selling things.  We used to do Ebay but that was a pain with trying to figure out the shipping.  With Craigs List, people just come to your house and pick up what they want.  I've sold clothes, baby items, snowblower, crib, and a ton more stuff on Craigs List.

Rummage sale season starts mid-late April and is in full swing by May. I agree, keep your stuff cheap and people will buy it. I never pay more than $2.00 for a clothing item. Don't care if it is namebrand or not, it is still used!!! My other advice is to organize. It takes a little more time on your part but you have the potential to sell so much more. If I walk into a garage where the clothes are thrown on a table for me to look through and not sorted by size, I usually walk right back out.

One thing I used to do to make things easier on myself was to price things by table.  Ex-- Baby clothes, organized by size (say 3-6 months) were all $1.00 (or whatever).  I put big signs on each table, plus I hung signs around the area.  It was alot easier than pricing every individual item. 

I also had one or two "free" bins-- stuffed animals, girls purses, etc.   It worked really well for getting rid of those odds & ends items. 

My main goal was to get rid of as much as possible so I didnt have to repack it and transport it.  I always made good money, and then I used the money from the rummage sale for new kids clothes. 

In my area (lakeshore) many people start their sales already on Thursdays and have great luck.  It used to be that Fridays were the big day (I had a friend who would have Friday only sales twice a year and make about $500, not bad for 1 day).  But around here Thursday has become the new Friday.

I would definitely have the clothing sorted by size.  They are already in boxes by size downstairs anyway.  That is the main reason I go to Savers and not Goodwill.  Savers has everything sorted by girl or boy clothes, then 0-3 months, 3-6 months, etc.  Goodwill usually has an "infant" and "toddler" section.  Who has time to look through all of that?  It is so easy when it is sorted, so you can flip through everything and grab all the long sleeve t-shirts or whatever you are looking for.

I am excited to make some money from my baby things.  I will use it to buy my oldest's next size clothing, or put some of the money toward their bedroom, which I am hoping to redecorate when I move the girls in together next year.

I am still a little nervous, since I have never done it before.  Maybe my aunt would come and help me sell or look after the kids.

Just an added thought, send a flyer around the neighborhood or ask if some friends / family are interested in making it a multi family sale or neighborhood sale. You might have a better sale and have some help as well.

Yes, my neighbor across the street already said she wants to do a rummage sale in the spring too.  Maybe we could plan the same weekend, and I could ask others on my street if they want to do a block-wide rummage sale.  Fun!
