DH has been gone for the last 11 nights elk hunting in MT, so Ive been on my own. Must say, Im excited for him to walk through the door today, not so much because I miss him and want a big hug, but because I will be walking out the door soon after he walks in! We did have fun, I had random snuggle buddies in my bed at night; survived on pizza, McDs, and mac-n-cheese; enjoyed a movie night together; and left for 3 nights to visit friends for Hallooween. And I have to confess that I actually had a night off for a bachelorette party so the kids had a night with their grandma. Im ready for a break now though, I need to get to the gym and grocery shop by myself. Just the little things that I take for granted when DH is around.
SO...to all you single moms/parents out there. I have a higher respect for you, as I always do after hunting season. You are amazing and I wish I could give you the time off that you all deserve.

I know, single moms must be super-moms! My DH doesn't help out as much as I think he should, but even little things must be tough when you are the only parent: getting 30 min to put laundry away or be able to run errands or take a walk after the kids go to bed. I take those things for granted.

I did for almost a year while my husband was working out of town. He would come home on the weekends but I was solo Sunday night through late Friday night and it is tough. I don't know how single parents and military families do it but I give them all the credit in the world!

I give all single parents a lot of credit -- moms and dads. Not only for running the household and raising the kids alone, but for managing the often contentious relationship with "the other" parent. And keeping things cool for the kids. You rock!

Thanks ladies for the kudos! I had a mom tell me something similar this week after having her twins for four days on her own. While we all do what we can, having someone batting cleanup always helps!!
