Stemming from our Christmas music discussion - there were lots of comments about decorations in the stores. So, when do you actually decorate for Christmas if that is a holiday you celebrate? We have a tradition that the day after Thanksgiving while I'm shopping like crazy, my husband and kids set the tree up and bring up all the decorations. That night we all put the ornaments on.

We have two Christmas trees in our home. We have a tree that we put up on Thanksgiving day in our family room and then we cut a real tree down as a family the 1st or 2nd Saturday in December and then that one is put up in our living room. Since my DH does the whole Deer Hunting thing, my DS 7 and I decorate the house on the weekend following Thanksgiving. That also includes the outside lights. I love the Christams season for decorating and therefore, my whole house is decorated. I am very excited and can't wait to get into the Christmas spirit.

We have Thanksgiving dinner at our house with DH's mom's family the Saturday after Thanksgiving so I don't do any Christmas decorating until Saturday night or Sunday. Last year we started what I hope will be an annual tradition of having both families to our house the second weekend in December and then Santa makes a visit. Last year it was a hit, my boys' eyes were as big as saucers when they saw Santa come around the back of the house. Because of this party I try to have everything decorated for Christmas by the first weekend in December.

Yep, the weekend after Thanksgiving is when we chop down our tree and put it up.

Usually the Saturday after Thanksgiving. I usually try to pick a warmer weekend in November (like this coming Sat) to put the outside decorations up but I won't turn the lights on until after Thanksgiving.

I like to try to get our tree the Saturday after Thanksgiving. It used to be our ritual of going as a family to cut it down, but my dh and dd grumble about how picky I am in picking a tree. Last year my ds and I went to the tree farm and found our tree and cut it down, we had so much fun and he felt so important in helping cut and drag the tree. I hope we can make this a tradition for the 2 of us. I like to decorate that weekend also, but I love Christmas and decorate all over that I don't usually get done until the next weekend if I am lucky! Oh boy, the ideas are starting already for this :)

We put ours up the day after thanksgiving. Instead of heading out shopping on black friday, we stay in our pj's, make hot coco, play christmas music, make cookies and deck the whole house out with tree and all. It's something our family has been doing every year for the last 10 yrs and we all really enjoy it! :)

My sister's bithday is the 4th of December. So growing up we always waited until the 5th to put it up. The poor Dec bday kids, always lumped in with Christmas - my son is the week before Christmas so we couldn't uphold the tradition with him. So to this day it always feels like I've gone "rogue" to put it up early - the day after Thanksgiving. :) But, it's become a great tradition for our family and works out great that my hubby is off that day so we can get it all out easily.

I put out my nativity and garland and other little Christmas stuff the week after Thanksgiving. The tree doesnt go up normally until the 2nd weekend or whenever we get up north to cut one down. I can't stand buying a tree for $30+ when we have almost 400 acres to pick from for free at the in-laws.

We'll either put it up the Saturday before Thanksgiving or the weekend after Thanksgiving. My kids don't have school the entire week of Thanksgiving, so I'm taking them to visit family on Sunday and stay the week, then dh will make the trip and meetup with us after work on Wednesday.

We always go the weekend closest to Dec. 6th, its my dads bday, so my brother & his family & DH & I & the kids, and my mom & dad all go cut down our trees. Afterwards we do lunch or supper at their house (usually we have something in the slow cooker), then open his bday gifts. Its a great way to start the season!
